Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound hanger steak (or flank, filet, ribeye)
  • 1 sourdough baguette (sliced into 1-inch pieces)
  • 8 ounces burrata
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • Finely chopped chives (optional)
  • Drizzle of balsamic vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Season the steak with salt, pepper, and optional mushroom powder.
  2. Slice the sourdough baguette into about 1/2 inch pieces and arrange on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 6 to 8 minutes until golden.
  3. In a hot cast iron skillet with neutral oil, sear the steak for about 2 minutes on each side. Finish cooking in the oven for an additional 1 to 2 minutes based on desired doneness. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing thinly.
  4. Rub toasted bread slices with garlic, top with burrata and steak slices, sprinkle with chives, flaky salt, cracked pepper, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar if desired. Serve immediately.
