  • 10 lemons (zest only)
  • 1 (750ml) bottle vodka
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. Using a vegetable peeler, carefully remove the zest from the lemons, avoiding the bitter white pith.
  2. Trim away any remaining pith from the peels with a small knife.
  3. Place the lemon peels in a pitcher and pour vodka over them, ensuring they are submerged. Cover and let steep at room temperature for 4 days.
  4. Create a sugar syrup by dissolving sugar in water over medium heat in a saucepan; cool completely.
  5. Combine the cooled syrup with the vodka mixture and let it sit overnight.
  6. Strain the mixture through a mesh strainer into clean bottles and refrigerate until cold.
